Hot Hot HOT!

What a hot week we have had! The temp has been 100+ around here for the past several days. The hot weather has not kept us inside though. We have spent almost every evening playing on the playground and Lexa has spent almost every day at daycare playing in water. Last week they played in the sprinkler at Ms. Gail's and this week they have played in the new little pool Ms. Gail bought. The anticipation of going in that little pool everyday has been the highlight of Lexa's week.
On Saturday we went to Riley's pool where Lexa ventured into the big pool wearing only arm floaties. She is becoming more and more daring in the pool. She starts swim class in two weeks and we are confident that she will be an independent swimmer by the end of the summer. On Sunday we spent the day out on the deck playing with the sprinkler, little pool, and water table. It was so hot out there that Darcy even ventured into our extremely cold well water (anyone who has well water knows that the water is absolutely freezing).
We have also been enjoying all the hummingbirds that have finally come around for the summer. Last year we had about 8-10 (they are so fast it is hard to keep count) and this year we are sure we have seen at least four, two males and two females. They are very entertaining and they are already getting used to feeding while we are outside on the deck. We watched one little male humming bird have some type of heat stroke though, and fortunately he is fine. He was just sitting on the perch eating and flipped upside down (still holding on to the perch) and about a minute later he flipped back up and started drinking again. We are pretty sure that is not typical hummingbird behavior since we have been watching them for years. Unfortunately we could not get the camera in time but you really had to see it to believe it. We really enjoy the humming birds so you will probably hear more about the silly humming birds throughout the summer.

Until next blog here are some pics.
See the rainbow? Lexa was asleep, but we took a picture for her.
Silly time at the playground
One of many dress up times during the past week
She probably changes clothes or dresses up as a
princess at least 4 times a day.
Lexa at Riley's pool
Lexa and Riley eating ice pops on a hot day
Lexa swimming in the big pool all by herself.
It looks like she can reach the bottom and is walking,
but she can not reach. Sure her technique leaves a little
to be desired, but she is swimming all by herself!
Playing with lots of water on the deck
Two of the female humming birds who don't want to share
I think she is checking us out
